La Santera, A Hacienda-Style Boutique Hotel in Andalusia
Near Gaucin, Andalusia, Spain

Two London-based friends of mine own this gem of a boutique hotel, located in one of the prettiest parts of Andalusia. The setting is dramatic ... magnificent views of the Los Alcornocales National Park from the breezy terrace, a top spot for sundowner cocktails. Just 6 guest rooms which are more like suites, with dressing rooms, balconies, sitting rooms and one with a large private courtyard. The décor is hacienda-style, plain white-washed walls providing the simple backdrop to colorful bed linens, rugs and artworks—think old-meets-new with Wifi, satellite TV in every room, and other mod cons. Lots of local activities to enjoy—horseback riding, guided walks, Spanish & art lessons, visits to Jerez sherry producers, Royal Andalusian horse stables, fantastic windsurfing in Tarifa, even a day visit to exotic Tangier by fast-boat. The polo fields, beaches & golf courses of Sotogrande on the Costa del Sol are an easy half-hour drive. Super location! 45 minutes from Gibraltar and 90 minutes from Malaga or Jerez airports.
Rooms from €300 euros per night; the hotel is also available for exclusive rental.
