Despite Hong Kong's hectic pace, pollution and, in warmer months, relentless humidity, business executives there somehow remain quite polished. No doubt they patronize some of these top spots for masculine primping and indulgence.
Barbershop: The Mandarin Barber
For the best close shave in the Far East, look no further than the trusty Barbershop in the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Think 1930s Hong Kong, with Art Deco geometrics, screen-printing, glass and ironwork, alongside traditional barbershop chairs, books on vintage cars, wine and watches for a reassuringly masculine touch. If you'd rather have your shave in privacy, there's a private treatment room available. Robert Angel Gonzalez has developed the wet shave, which includes a variety of hot, cold and aromatherapy towel wraps. The barbershop isn't just about unwanted facial hair though, they also offer massages, facials and the legendary Shanghainese pedicure. A Chinese medical procedure, the pedicure involves less stroking and more shaving than you might expect—dead or dry skin is removed from the foot with sharp blades before the feet are buffed and polished. The resident pedicurists are Ben Chueng and Samuel So, who has podiatry in his genes—his father was the legendary Mr. So Yan Ko who worked at the hotel until the nineties. Samuel can sort out all sorts of podiatry problems, from corns and calluses, ingrown toenails and hard skin. You'll walk out on new feet.

Day Spa: Ziz Skincare for Men
The frenetic pace of Hong Kong can take its toll on the best of skins, but urban retreats like Ziz provide a welcome respite—a place for men to relax and rejuvenate in a calm, contemporary and intimate setting. Located in bustling Central, on Hong Kong Island, Ziz was founded by skin care expert Joseph Fung who has developed an exclusive and results-driven range of non-invasive, anti-aging treatment and products. With its cool charcoal-and-white interior, team of professional therapists and Zen-like atmosphere, the all-male salon offers quality care at a surprisingly good price: about US$50 for a 45-minute anti-stress eye treatment to US$180 for a two-hour Complete Rejuvenation package. Fung's skin care range is also available for purchase.
