Royal Mougins Golf Club
One of the most elite golf courses of our time—non-members may only play the famed 18-hole Robert von Hagge-designed course a maximum of five times a year. Golf de Morfontaine
Well-known as one of the world's greatest golf courses, Golf de Morfontaine is rich in history. The greens offer challenges designed by some of the greatest golf architects, including a Tom Simpson-designed course with recent alterations by Kyle Phillips—the result: a sculpted 18-hole and 9-hole courses. Difficult approach shots and strategically placed bunkers will challenge players on rolling greens guarded by trees. The 6,450 yard, par 70, course is very exclusive and only available to members and their guests, located 6 miles south of Senlis and north of Paris.

St. Nom-la-Breteche Golf Club
Home of the Trophée Lancôme, a staple of the European PGA tour and host to events like the World Cup of Golf and the French Open, St. Nom-la-Brèteche has become renowned for its split-course design by Fred Hawtree. About 15 miles west of Paris, the club has two courses; the Red course has hard sloping greens, while the Blue utilizes water hazards such as the lake that divides the 9th and 18th greens. A beautiful 17th century manor has been transformed into a clubhouse and fits perfectly into the hilly countryside dotted with fruit trees.

Ecole de Surf Jo Moraiz
Learn to backside on your board at the surf school founded by the late, pioneering French surfer Jo Moraiz, one of the first to ride the waves at Biarritz when surfing first hit France in the '60s. Now his son, Christophe, continues his father's legacy and shares his love of the Biarritz waves by teaching students on the legendary Côte des Basques Beach. The professional instructors at the Moraiz Surf School—which is sponsored by Billabong—help students hone techniques in a friendly environment and safe conditions: surfboards are chosen for each participant based on ability, and lessons (taught in English, French and Spanish) are only conducted during low tide periods. Plums Surf School
Do you know your Aerials from your Zero Breaks? If not, head to the Basque Coast to perfect your surfing skills. Scaredy Cat Ski Programme
Learning to ski can make or break your potential love for the favorite winter-time activity. For people who want to take things more slowly, or need extra reassurance, the Scaredy Cat Ski Programme has been launched by Snowline and VIP chalets in conjunction with the Oxygène ski school; three afternoon sessions designed for skiers who like to take things nice and slow. Golf de Chantilly
In the heart of horse-racing country, you'll find an activity that you don't need four legs to compete in. The course at Chantilly offers two ways to play, on either the old or newer course, both 18 holes. Choose either and you're in for a great interplay between the challenge of a long course and heavy soil. Stamina and technical expertise are great companions on this Parisian aristo-chic course, which was designed in the vein of Tom Simpson's “golf architecture” movement in the roaring twenties, and retains a sense of golfing glamour.

Golf de Sperone
Corsica might not be the first place to spring to mind when you think of golf, but on the south coast, hugging the Mediterranean sea and climbing among the rocky maquis you'll find one of Robert Trent Jones' masterpieces. The centrepiece of the chic Domaine de Sperone estate (rent a villa if you;re in for the long haul), there are 18 holes; nine and nine links, with a par of 72. Try not to get too distracted by the scenery, you'll need to concentrate on this course and there is a lot of bush land and a number of unusual holes—like hole 10 where you;re got to have a drive good enough to carry over the water. Coaching and courses are available the whole year round. If you're left feeling little hungry, the clubhouse offers a lounge, bar and restaurant with views over the course, the Lavezzi Islands and the Sardinian archipelago.

The Chantilly Polo Club
If you're looking for a stylish day out from Paris, the Chantilly Polo Club will introduce you to France's haute society. From the end of April to the beginning of October, the club opens its doors to members and visitors for an exciting season of tournaments, featuring some of the world's top players, and glittering social events. Although founded in 1995, the club's spirit harks back to the 1920s when the Rothschild family set up a polo field here. Set on a farm in the pretty village of Apremont, close to Charles de Gaulle Airport, the Chantilly Polo Club also offers lessons to anyone who wants to learn to play polo or improve their skills.
