The Ring

Ringstrasse, Vienna, Austria

The Ring Hotel's motto of "casual luxury" comes across in its 68 rooms and suites, featuring a mix of contemporary and classic furniture and a warm color scheme of browns, creams and reds, all equipped with flat-screen TVs and handy Nespresso coffee machines for when you need a quick caffeine fix.

Newly opened in the heart of Vienna, this 19th-century bank-turned-hotel still has some kinks to iron out, but it's certainly a place to keep an eye on. The Ring's motto of "casual luxury" comes across in its 68 rooms and suites, featuring a mix of contemporary and classic furniture and a warm color scheme of browns, creams and reds, all equipped with flat-screen TVs and handy Nespresso coffee machines for when you need a quick caffeine fix. There are three room types—Casual, Special and X-Ordinary—varying from 24 to 50 square meters, offering views of either the courtyard or Ringstrasse, the elegant avenue which encircles the old city of Vienna; for extra space, book a suite with a separate living room. Drings, the bar, is a great place for pre-dinner cocktails, and if you fancy the artwork on display, keep in mind that it's available for purchase. If you aren't rushing off to the nearby opera house, settle in for an evening at the restaurant, At Eight, which has a light, fresh touch to it, from the zeprano wood and cool green banquettes to the herb-and-spice infused menus and extensive wine list. The hotel's top floor features a very good fitness room, including a sauna and steam bath, but the spa has only one treatment room, so book early. Families are welcome at the Ring, where children under 12 stay free in their parents' room and cribs are complimentary.

Room rates from €199.
